Sunset and golden hour

The light shows sunrise, golden hour, sunset and blue hour for the wedding date at the venue. It's for venues, photographers, videographers, officiants and planners.

• Golden hour: warm, low light for portraits, until sunset.
• Sunset.
• Blue hour: from sunset until civil dusk.
• Sunrise, with the morning golden hour.

Where the place comes from

• The venue the couple booked on The Veil, if it has a location.
• Your own location, if you're the venue.
• A venue that brought you onto the event.

Until there's a date and a place, the box says what it's waiting for. Times are in the venue's time zone when it's known, and in yours otherwise.

Using it

• Photographers: put a short portrait break in golden hour on the run sheet, and ask for it in the vendors' thread so the venue and planner know. See Everyone working this wedding.
• Venues and officiants: an outdoor ceremony timed too close to sunset loses the light for the recessional and the family photos after it.
• Planners: check the light before you confirm the order of the day with the couple.

Good to know

• Plan portraits and an outdoor ceremony around it, and put the time on the run sheet so everyone knows.
