Floor plan checks

Checks reads your plan the way a planner or rental company would, and tells you what to look at. The toolbar button shows a count when there's something to fix.

Tap Checks in the toolbar.

The summary

At the top: how many seats you have for how many guests, how many tables, and how many square feet of dance floor. When nothing needs attention you'll see Everything fits: tables have room between them, exits are clear and there's a seat for everyone.

What it checks

• Overlaps: two pieces on top of each other, or chairs hitting another piece.
• Gaps between tables: about 5 ft, so chairs can push back and servers can get through. We tell you the narrowest gap.
• Exits and doorways: pieces blocking an exit (44 inches clear is the minimum) or standing in a doorway.
• Walkways and keep-clear areas you've marked.
• Seats for everyone: if guests outnumber seats, how many more tables of 8 would do it.
• Ceremony seats: if your ceremony rows seat fewer than your guests.
• The aisle: four to six feet lets two people walk it side by side.
• Dance floor: if you don't have one, the size that fits about half your guests dancing at once, at 3 sq ft per dancer.
• Bars and buffets: one bar for about every 100 guests, and one side of a buffet for every 50, so we say if a line will be long.
• Music: if the DJ or band is far from the dance floor.
• Restrooms, outdoors or in a tent: one for every 50 guests, a fifth more with a bar. A 2 to 3 stall trailer counts as 3.
• Generators and fire pits: generators 20 ft from where people eat and dance, fire pits 10 ft from anything that burns.
• Tents: room for stakes and guy lines beyond the walls, and whether a tent is full.

Fix things

Each item has Show me, which highlights the pieces involved on the plan. Some have a one-tap fix, like Add 2 60" rounds or Add dance floor.

Good to know

• Warnings are advice, not rules. Your venue or rental company has the final word on their space.
• Info items, like "No dance floor yet", don't count toward the number on the button.
