Is our budget split normal? (Plus)

Most couples have never priced a wedding before. With The Veil Plus, every budget category shows what's typical, so you can tell a sensible split from a surprise.

Where to find it

Open Budget from Home and stay on Categories. With Plus, under each category's bar you'll see one of these lines:

• Couples near you paid and a range, like "$9,800–$14,200". This comes from real bookings on The Veil: couples in your state with a similar guest count. We only show it when at least eight couples like you have booked in that category, and the range covers the middle half of what they paid.
• Typical for your total and a range. When there isn't enough local data yet, we show the share of the whole budget that category usually takes in published wedding-cost surveys, applied to your total.

The flags

If a category's budget is well outside the range, a small flag appears:

• On the low side: your budget for it is more than a quarter below the bottom of the range.
• On the high side: more than a quarter above the top.

Within that margin there's no flag. A round number a little under the range is fine.

Instead of the ranges you'll see a card called Is this a normal split? Tap it to see the plans.

Using the ranges well

• Ranges are wide on purpose. A venue in a big city and one in a small town share a category and not much else.
• They say "typical", not "should". A low Florals budget is fine if you're growing your own.
• Venue and catering are usually the largest shares. If yours are small, check they include everything, such as rentals, service charges and tips.

Good to know

• Your guest count and state come from Wedding Vibe, so keep them up to date.
• Nothing about your own budget is shared with other couples. Local ranges are built only from bookings, never from anyone's plans.
