Insurance and licenses

Venues ask for insurance before they let a vendor through the door, and couples are told to check. Putting it on your page answers the question once. It's under Page, Insurance and licenses. Owners and managers can change it.

What you can add

• Liability insurance: who insures you, for example Erie Insurance.
• License: who issued it, for example PA Dept of Agriculture.
• Certification: who certified you.
• Registered business: where you're registered, for example Pennsylvania.

Add or edit one

1. Choose Add (or Edit) on the line.
2. Enter who issued it, the policy or license number, and the date it expires.
3. Choose Save.

The number stays private. It's there so we can check it against a certificate. Couples see the issuer and the expiry date only.

Declared or verified

Anything you add is published as your own statement. Your page says As told to us by the vendor, because that's what happened.

If you send us the certificate, we check it against the number you gave, and the badge changes to Verified by us in the portal and Checked by The Veil on your page. Send a picture of it from Help, under Ask us, with Add a picture.

On your public page these appear under Paperwork.

When it expires or isn't confirmed

• Expired: after the expiry date the line says "Expired … it is not showing on your page". Edit it with the new dates.
• We couldn't confirm this: we checked and it didn't match. It isn't shown on your page; our note says why.
• An expiry date that's already passed is refused with "That date has already passed, check the year."

Good to know

• Remove takes a line off your page straight away.
• Venues on The Veil can ask outside vendors for a certificate of insurance on a booking. They set that up in Settings, Preferred vendors.
